Overview

BankY, a leading financial institution, partnered with Trevonix Technologies to assess its readiness to integrate with the Select ID digital identity ecosystem. The initiative aimed to simplify customer onboarding, consume trusted identities from certified Identity Providers (IdPs), and ensure alignment with evolving KYC/AML and GDPR regulations.

Trevonix conducted a focused Proof of Concept (PoC) to evaluate the technical and operational preparedness of BankY to act as both a Relying Party (consuming identities) and an Identity Provider (providing verified identities to other institutions such as Bank A, B, and C). The engagement laid the foundation for scalable, standards-based interoperability in the financial ecosystem.

The Challenge

BankY’s vision for secure and seamless onboarding through Select ID required addressing several critical challenges:- Navigating the Select ID trust and legal framework, including liability and data-sharing concerns.

- Ensuring OIDC and trust token integration with external IdPs.

- Aligning third-party identity assurance with internal KYC/AML and GDPR policies.

- Managing user consent workflows and updating internal onboarding processes.

- Operating within a maturing ecosystem with limited IdP participation during initial stages.
